About Xanthe

 

Xanthe understands that choosing a therapist is a personal matter and that you need to find one you can trust and feel comfortable with. Xanthe follows a professional code of practice and ethics as laid down by the organisations of which she is a member and all consultations and treatments are confidential. Xanthe is a member of the New Zealand Charter of Health Practitioners for the modalities of Reflexology, Remedial Massage and Reiki.

Xanthe qualified as a reflexologist at the beginning of 2002 after following an accredited practitioner course with Philip Salmon and Anna Jeoffroy in Hammersmith, London. The practitioner qualification Xanthe holds is accredited by the Association of Reflexologists, AoR(UK), of which Xanthe is a full member.

Since arriving in New Zealand soon after qualifying, Xanthe joined Reflexology New Zealand Incorporated (RNZ). Xanthe is currently Vice President of RNZ. RNZ is affiliated to the New Zealand Charter of Health Practitioners and its members are able to arrange insurance and apply for membership to NZCHP. The strength of RNZ is in its regional groups around New Zealand and Xanthe is a Committee member of the Christchurch based Southern Reflexology Group (SRG), which is a group of practicing reflexologists who meet regularly to support each other, attend Festivals and Expos to promote reflexology and organise courses to assist with upskilling.

As well as having her own practice and being on Committees with RNZ and SRG, Xanthe enjoys teaching Reflexology. Xanthe is a tutor at the Canterbury College of Natural Medicine based in Christchurch teaching both introductory and Diploma level courses.

Xanthe has studied Reiki to level III Practitioner level and is a member of Reiki New Zealand. Xanthe also has a Diploma in Indian Head Massage, accredited by the International Institute of Health and Holistic Therapies (IIHHT) and is a member of the Institute of Indian Head Massage and Certified Massage Therapist with Massage New Zealand (MNZ). Xanthe owns her own training company, Indian Head Massage New Zealand Limited offering training courses around New Zealand.

Xanthe continues to attend courses and seminars to increase her knowledge in natural therapies. As part of the continuous upskilling requirement for Chartered Health Practitioners Xanthe has attended postgraduate reflexology courses in; Hand Reflexology, Ear Reflexology, Maternity Reflexology, Ayurvedic Refelxology, Vertical Reflexology and CranioSacral Therapy in Reflexology as well as workshops presented at annual Conferences held by RNZ and MNZ.

Xanthe also practices CranioSacral Therapy and Visceral Manipulation and is the New Zealand Sponsor for theUpledger Institute who teach CranioSacral Therapy courses around the world. Xanthe has attended courses in CranioSacral Techniques, mouth work, SomatoEmotional Release and CranioSacral Therapy for Paediatrics. Xanthe incorporates these techniques into her treatment sessions.

Xanthe receives invitations to talk to groups on both Reflexology and Indian Head Massage, during 2004 she presented 2 workshops at the Massage Institute of New Zealand Conference (now called MNZ) and in 2008 presented 2 workshops at the Massage New Zealand Conference.

Xanthe graduated with an honours degree in Applied Chemistry (1992) and worked as a Research Scientist then a Marketing Services Manager in a busy international sales office before becoming a natural health practitioner. Xanthe fully understands the demands that such environments have on people, and the place in today's society for natural therapies to assist with health maintenance in a non intrusive way.
