About Reflexology

"Reflexology is the application of a specific pressure massage technique on precise reflex points on the feet or hands, based on the premise that reflex areas on the feet or hands correspond to all body parts" Inge Dougans

By working on these points the Reflexologist can help to activate the body's own healing and cleansing mechanisms, thereby bringing about a state of health and peace of mind. The Reflexologist uses their hands to apply pressure to the feet or hands. For each person the application and the effect of the therapy is unique. Sensitive, trained hands can detect tiny deposits and imbalances in the feet or hands, and by working on these points the Reflexologist can release blockages and restore the free flow of energy to the whole body. Tensions are eased, and circulation and elimination is improved. This gentle therapy encourages the body to heal itself, often counteracting a lifetime of misuse.

Reflexologists do not diagnose, nor claim to cure. Reflexology complements conventional medicine rather than being an alternative to it and is part of a holistic approach to health.

Foot Reflexology:
The history of foot massage originated from the Chinese who used foot massage for treatment 5,000 years ago. Foot massage has evolved and applied to health care, especially for relieving muscle pain, relaxing and curing some diseases, because Foot massage could stimulate the function of physical organs and provide balance.

Hand Reflexology:
Hand reflexology is an non-invasive therapy based on the principle that body organs and structures are mirrored in the feet and in the hands. It treats the whole body by means of specific pressure. By treating a reflex point, I can un-block congestion and enhance energy flow encouraging the body’s systems to work in union. It is a natural way of bringing the body back into balance and to heal itself.

Ear Reflexology:
Ear Reflexology or Auricular Therapy is an ancient natural therapy, which can be traced back to the Indians of North and South America and the Chinese. It involves the application of thumb and finger pressure to all parts of the outer ear often bringing about deep relaxation.
